Westport Center for Senior Activities - Additions & Renovations 2019

The Westport Center for Senior Activities in Connecticut was a success from day one. Within five years of its original opening in 2004, classes and events were full. The Town of Westport was so pleased with the building's design and the dedication of the original architectural team that they rehired Brian & Amanda Scheuzger (who had moved from Connecticut to Maine and were working for ARS Architecture) to design the much-needed addition.

The new addition seamlessly blends with the welcoming shingle-style park aesthetic, doubles the size of the popular arts & crafts and fitness programs, and adds a dedicated game room, a multi-use lecture and exercise room, a large group activity room, a satellite administrative space, and additional restrooms with showers. Other enhancements include a new and expanded reception desk, a grab & go station offering healthy snacks, new carpeting, and a completely updated mechanical system.

Recently completed in 2019, the senior center addition fulfilled the goal that began 15 years earlier: To enhance the lives of seniors and the community at large.
